Green Meals Project - Volunteer programs creating community

Trinity Center Walnut Creek

"Grab-and-go Breakfast bags Program"

Every week, our team aims to make a difference. Our Breakfast Program prepares and provides "Grab and Go Breakfast Bags" to unhoused community members and working poor adults facing food insecurity.

Distribution takes place every Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. The meals are distributed through Trinity Center, a daytime shelter in Walnut Creek, California, that provides safety net services for vulnerable populations.

Our commitment is to provide this food at no cost, with no expectations or requirements for participation. Partnering with Trinity Center ensures direct access to those who benefit most from our program.

Food access is essential to community justice, and volunteering reminds us to keep an open mind and heart. Volunteering teaches lessons that aren't learned in books or movies; it gives back the unique opportunity to view life from the perspective of others!

Are you ready to take action to fight food insecurity in our community? Let us know!

"Volunteering means more than just helping others; it's also an opportunity to make new friends. Over the years, we've strengthened our friendships with others who share our passion for serving."

- Angelina Schapiro.

Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano

"Hands-on Volunteer Program" at our local Food Bank

Join us in making a difference! We assist new volunteers in smoothly navigating the registration process, helping them choose a date and time to contribute their time at our Local Food Bank's sorting facility and distribution sites.

Tasks at the Food Bank warehouse and distribution sites include:

  • Packing fresh produce.
  • Monitoring food donation expiration dates.
  • Sorting and packing non-perishable items into donation boxes.
  • Directly distributing fresh produce to those in need.

It's human nature to help others. We believe in the power of giving time, recognizing that, even if money is tight, a couple of hours can make a meaningful impact. Ready to lend a helping hand?

"We are all in this together because everyone has a right to start the day with a healthy meal, and no one should go to bed hungry" - Angelina Schapiro.
